Robert “Perk” Franklin Perkins, Jr. 89, of Louisa passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. A lifelong resident of Louisa he was the son of the late Robert F., Sr. and Daisy H. Perkins. He was a member and deacon of Louisa Baptist Church, member of Louisa Volunteer Fire Department for 74 years and served as Chief for 39 years and a charter member of Louisa Volunteer Rescue Squad. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Snider Perkins, a brother, J. Allison Perkins and a sister, Iris P. Richardson.
Perk is survived by three daughters, Ann Carol Gatewood (Roger) of Kents Store, VA, Marie P. Bowers (Joe) of Louisa, Martha P. Williams of Mineral and a special daughter, Joyce M. Bickley (Calvin) of Louisa, one sister, Annis P. Mallory of Louisa; grandchildren, Robert A. Greep (Michele), Jeffrey P. Greep (Donna), Darrell L. Greep (Denise), Rachel D. Payton, April N. Payton and Kellye B. Throckmorton (Michael) and twelve great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held at 11am on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Louisa Volunteer Fire Department, 300 E. Main St. Louisa, VA; officiated by Rev. Dr. Larry Hoyle , David Cole and Rev. Bruce Jones. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
