Bringing fireworks back!
Sat. Apr 25th 2015

For 72 years the Louisa Volunteer Fire Department has been in the business of creating long lasting memories for many families in our area. Since 2011, new state laws prohibited us from launching fireworks at our original launch site (The Louisa Little League Field). The new laws made it mandatory for us to have a State of Virginia certified Pyro-technician onsite and it required us to have large buffers from by-standers and occupied dwellings. We have finally come up with a solution to these laws that held us back the last few years. With the help of Wayt Gibbs of Virginia Skypainters we are planning a 15-20 minute fireworks show on July 3rd 2015. This will be an electronically launched show with less or hardly no dark sky. Due to the large buffers needed the fireworks will be fired from two different locations. The large mortars will be launched from the Louisa Town Hall grounds, and the Finale will be launched from the Old Country Vintner's Factory just east of the fairgrounds. We expect the best view of the fireworks to be inside the fairgrounds. You may not be able to see the finale from the parking area as people used to in the past. The Louisa little league ball field will be available for blanket toting families for seating also. Please understand that this is a completely new strategy for us, so please be patient. After the fair is over, we will put up a pole question to figure out what we can do to make the display better for years to come. Thanks! We look forward to seeing you on July 3rd!
